Hi, all! I hope I can get some feedback. I was just offered a great job in Atlanta-the office is in the east side of Buckhead. As a single mom of a 9 year old girl, and no family in Atlanta, I need to find a condo/town home/apartment to rent that 1) is in a great elementary/middle school district 2) is in a family friendly/safe area and 3) does not have a long commute (I need to be able to get to my daughter at a decent time after work and not stress the traffic). My high-end rent budget is $1300 and I need at least a 2/2 (would prefer a 3/2, but that may not be possible).

Can anyone recommend an area to concentrate on? I was told Smith Elementary and Jackson elementary were great schools. Any recommendations in those areas? I was told to look at Sandy Springs, and came across Vinings and Decatur as possible family friendly areas as I was looking around. I think I would like to stay in the perimeter, but am concerned about safety. It is so hard since I don't know the area at all.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi, When you say East side of Buckhead, I am thinking over around Lenox Square, is that correct? You could look in the area around Chastain Park (Sarah Smith elem district) and Sandy Springs (Heards Ferry elem district). I think Vinings and Decatur will be too far away for you. Morris Brandon Elementary is also a superb elementary school in Buckhead, not too far, but a bit to the west of Sarah Smith. There are some great condos w/ green space (check out Cross Creek) in the Brandon district if you dig. There are also tons of condos north of Lenox on Peachtree and on Lenox Road. The Lenox Road ones may be more kid-friendly. These will be closest to your work, if I'm gauging where your work is correctly.

There are lots of nice apartments in the Buckhead Business District. Living in the business district will prevent you from having to drive as Buckhead as a free shuttle bus, The BUC Bucride that takes workers, residents and visitors to all the major office towerrs, shopping centers, malls, and transit stations.
