Interesting. However, it's obvious these folks don't know where Rockdale is.

Quote:

The map above shows a clear class divide which splits the city of Atlanta nearly in half. The creative class lives in the areas that are shaded in purple, the red areas are primarily service class, and the blue are working class. Each colored space on the map is a Census tract, a small area within a city or county that can be even smaller than a neighborhood.

The purple (creative class) areas dominate the entire Northeast of the city, from downtown up through Midtown, including adjacent Georgia Tech and Virginia Highland out to Buckhead in the North and Rockdale in the West.

Also, comment regarding the report from the Saporta Report.

Quote:
Richard Florida’s latest research shows metro Atlanta has become a tale of two regions and likely will continue on that trajectory.

The wealth-generating creative region begins near downtown Atlanta and spreads north along Ga. 400 through Roswell, with outparcels scattered across mainly the northern suburbs. Future wealth generation seems most likely to occur in north Atlanta and close-in suburbs, in Florida’s scenarios.

Default Class-Divided Cities:

Not exclusive to Atlanta.

I remember waaaay back in the early 90's, my math Prof. in college said the USA is becoming a country of the haves and have nots.

Well, it's barely a neighborhood now. It probably was more of something back in the day.

Some history of it could more than likely be found somewhere...

We are not becoming a country of the haves and have nots, we are becoming a country of those who want to work and make something of themselves and those who just have their hand out. This entitlement that people have today has to stop or this country is in for a rude awakening. Intersting breakdown of Atlanta though.

It doesn't say that the red areas are on government assistance...the map shows "service class" as the red areas. Where are getting that people in these areas are looking for hand outs??? That's absurd.

If you go back and actually READ my statement you will notice that I was referring to the OP's comment on haves and have nots, not the actual map of Atlanta....
