"show off cars" is subjective. People drive whatever they want, but what people drive effects how others look at them. For example have you ever seen the stereotypical redneck white dude hoping out of of Lexus or a Bimmer? Or look at all the black males who drive Chargers, Impalas, Crown Vics, its like a status thing or culture thing. Its like the police look for certain cars with certain drivers to pull over looking for the jackpot. I grow up loving those types of cars and still do, but I know its best not to drive certain cars to avoid harassment. People do drive certain cars to show off or try to act as if they are more successful than others. Arjay no offense man, but I think you have lived in Atlanta so long you are immune to what goes on here. No offense though.

People will steal anything these days. The other day I read about a man having coffee at the Starbucks at West Paces, and some guy walked in, snatched an iPhone right out of his hands and then raced out and hopped in the getaway car.

I agree. To many here, the car is a massive status symbol. There are a handful (nearly significant) number of people that I work with that make $12-$15 driving BMWs, Benzs, Range Rovers, etc. To them it doesn't matter what money they save or have for other needs; the car is the most important thing. While this group is less than the normal 'I have a car to get from A to B crowd,' it still makes up a sizeable portion of the metro.
