That's ridiculous.

With that logic, the only portion of GA 400 that is a toll road, then, is the area between Lenox Road and Glenridge.

What about between Sidney Marcus and Lenox? Is that a toll road?

I don't think the point of the toll is just for those 2 or 3 miles between Lenox and Glenridge.

This idea will prove disastrous. Sit back and watch.

Just as I thought it looks like this is not going to help traffic at all and is just going to cause confusion and probably more accidents:

The toll, a minuscule 50 cents, was enacted to pay for the section between I-285 and I-85 back in the 1990's. GA400 north of I-285 is not, nor ever was associated with any toll.

RAISE GEORGIA'a GAS TAX from 7.5 cents to 30-35 cents like ALL OTHER STATES, then there will be BILLIONS for road improvements.

I would imagine this would just create a bottleneck where the shoulder lane ends and people have to merge back into traditional lanes, thus, defeating the purpose.

Frankly, I don't know how they're going to improve traffic in that corridor without something drastic like some serious commuter rail service or a stacked highway. There's no room to widen 400 through dunwoody as some of those office buildings are already really close to the highway.

Also, I think the toll only pays for 400 improvements from 285 to 85. I think the toll is currently helping to pay for the new interchange on 400 and I-85. I could be wrong but that's what I always understood it to be.

IMO, the gas tax is not the issue. Instead, there are a bunch of bozos in the GA DOT who are wasting money and sitting around with their thumbs up their butts.

If the gas tax is such a vital piece of the puzzle, then please tell me how the state of Texas is building highways and massive interchanges with a much lower gas tax? My guess would be the state has a more competent DOT and they are relying on a lot of tolls for the major roads.

Here's a map that highlights the current gas tax for each state.

Interesting chart, thanks!

Does the situation in Texas have something to do with them using public private partnerships?

By the way, I noticed the price of gas is down this month so apparently Obama is doing something right.

Looks to me like our tax is already in the upper tier.

Look at Tennessee. They are a lot lower than we are. Look at Florida. They are only a little higher. Both of these states somehow manage to build and maintain roads with NO STATE INCOME TAX.

You can throw money at a problem all day long, but if the problem isn't money, it won't fix anything.

Our problem isn't money. It's terrible leadership.

I haven't experienced or looked into the details on GA 400, but it's been standard procedure to open the breakdown lane in the Boston area for more than 25 years now. Rte 128/I-95, Rte 3, and other major arteries all open the breakdown lane during rush hours.

My concern is that, in all sincerity and honesty, I don't think drivers here can handle it. People do not know how to give/take right of way. Not saying it to be inflammatory, but many drivers here seem to be on one end of the spectrum or the other...either timid or reckless.

On GA400 ??? Say it ain't so!!!

Good luck with that, y'all. Didn't they already do that with the MARTA buses? We've been gone for a while and haven't kept up .
