Hello All,

I was offered a new job in Lithia Springs today with a start date of February 20th. Very quick! I am generally unfamiliar with the area and would love some suggestions!! I am a 36 y/o single female with no children. I 've answered the suggested questions below. I'd prefer to stay close to where I work (I don't want a long commute). Thank you in advance for any suggestions on areas/ apartments/ etc!!

1. Budget: $ 800- $ 1200
2. House/Condo/Townhome? RENT a QUIET apartment or condo
3. Employment Status(commute/work from home): Will be working in Lithia Springs
4. Children(public school vs. private): None
5. Suburban or Urban lifestyle preference or a mix of the two: a mix-- For example, I'd love a good gym, a wal-mart, and some local coffee houses in my area
6. Easy access to public transit, important or not? Not important

There was another recent poster moving to the area also working in Lithia Springs.

I live in the area (a native actually) and will echo the advice a few of us gave the other poster for your situation.

Douglasville (pop. ~30,000) would be the optimal choice. It's the county seat for Douglas County (where Lithia is located) and is the regional retail hub for west Georgia and east Alabama (border is 30-40 miles west of us!). Arbor Place Mall (I think still 4th largest mall in GA), a ton of restaurants, a Starbucks, a Best Buy and all the other big box stores, a 24-hr Super Walmart and Sam's Club are all located around the Ga. Hwy 5-Chapel Hill Rd. corridor right at I-20.

There are lots of apartments on Hwy 5 within a mile of I-20. Arbor Terrace is a newer complex that looks nice. There's also a newer complex probably with a West Stewart's Mill Rd. address in the same area. Wesley Pond and Brook Valley are two other complexes we lived in 10-15 years ago within a mile or so of I-20 on Hwy 5. All of these places will be within your rent budget without a doubt (Dville is a pretty cheap place to live). Depending on where your job is in Lithia, you're looking at maybe a 10-15 minute commute from Douglasville. And Atlanta is only 30 minutes away if you get the urge to go into the big city. Good luck with your move. Hope that helps. Feel free to PM if you have any other questions about the area.

I envy you finding a job right in that area. I should be so lucky. But yes lots of nice apartment complexes in the area. Brodick Hill a nice one. Gated access and right off of I-20 on Lee Road. Manchester Place looks like another nice one. And I don't know what price range they run in but Tributary also has apartments now.
