Greetings all,

My husband and I will be relocating to ATL for a job in January from Milwaukee and are having a difficult time deciphering where to live. I've read many of the other posts and some of it helps but we all have just slightly different scenarios/needs.

1. Budget - $1400/mo
2. House/Condo/Townhome? preferably a house or a cool, well-built loft (2 bed, 2 bath min.)
3. Employment Status(commute/work from home) commute, I will be working near the airport in College Park
4. Children(public school vs. private) n/a
5. Suburban or Urban lifestyle preference or a mix of the two - more urban
6. Easy access to public transit, important or not? not really
7. Preferable demographics of desired neighborhood. safe, fun, diverse, eclectic

My commute to College Park and safety are priorities. I'd really prefer nothing over 30 minutes one way (will be a 9 to 5'er(ish). We really enjoy good food (restaurants and grocery stores), music (husband's a musician) and are looking for a neighborhood with a good vibe. We saw a place in Cabbagetown we like...thoughts?

Any help would be most appreciated!

Thank you all!

Try Midtown Atlanta or East Atlanta.

Inman Park? Sounds like your cup of tea, I just don't know if it's possible on the budget you specified.

It would be tough to find something in Inman Park or Candler Park on a $1400 budget, but not impossible. You might also check out Oakhurst, Decatur, and/or Kirkwood.

But Cabbagetown is. And so is East Atlanta. Or Kirkwood.

Maybe even in Decatur, in Oakhurst. Also you can probably get a 2 bedroom something in Candler Park. We rent out our 2/1 apartment, 1000 sqft for 1250. Pets allowed. But we have a tenant...

Best of luck.

Also look at Reynoldstown...

...but I am with the others in recommending EAV (but only walking distance to the village), Kirkwood (best up-and-coming neighborhood IMHO), and Cabbagetown (a little rough around the edges, but has a great vibe).

ATL appears to be a hub for Milwaukee transplants. I know of many that have made the move. I trust you will be fine.GOD BLESS!

East side Atlanta is your best bet. Good connection to MARTA, which leads to College Park and a very good vibe. Myself I live in Kirkwood and the people are great and the neighborhood is really improving with new restaurants and small businesses.
