Atlanta Extended Stays: the good and the bad (hotels, safety)

I've read a lot of the existing threads about these establishments and most center around finding them. I already know where they are so my concerns center around safety since all the travel review sites have terrible things to say about them such as run down rooms, questionable residents, bedbugs and other critters, criminal activity/police presence. I don't expect the Hilton, I realize that there are going to be a variety of people that are perhaps relocating like me, tourists on a budget, or maybe locals that are down on their luck and it's the only place they have to go. I can deal with that. What I can't deal with are drug dealers and prostitutes. I don't know about the bedbugs, seems kind of hard to avoid these days considering they can be found in even the best of hotels.

So does anyone have any positive things to say about the Atlanta extended stays? I know that most people that submit reviews on the travel sites usually have an axe to grind, I might get some more objective opinions here.

Edit: according to the website of these places you must pay for the entire stay in advance or if longer than a week, the entire week in advance....I don't know if I like that idea before I've had a chance to even see the room, would anyone else have an issue with this?
