Atlanta is a great move if one is already stable. Financially stable, specially.

First of all, there is the City of Atlanta and there is Metro Atlanta. The City of Atlanta has population of 420,000 residents vs Metro Atlanta has a population of 5,270,000. Although the actual city is high profile, the Mayor represents less than 10% of the metro area.

The black population of the city did decrease with the last census but you would need to further review the detail before you make a generalized statement. I have not seen the demographis for the metro area but some of that decrease could be the rise in affluent blacks that are choosing to move to the suburbs where there are better schools and home values.

I personally want all of Metro Atlanta and all races to grow and prosper. It is unfair to expect the black population to stay in the city and not take advantage of all that the metro area has to offer. As previously noted the growth in the white population has alot to do with young profressionals and others that are not as affected by the issues that might drive any family to the suburbs.

I just returned from a trip to Atlanta. I loved the area. Now I've been communicating with a cousin who has lived down there for about 12 years now. I was looking at this decent seeming apartment in Union City. "The Landings At Oak Hill" but I just learned more about Union City so I'm looking at new areas now.

There are some people on this website (they have asked to remain unknown for now) who will help you move here. Chocolate City DC is no longer for me I'm afraid but I have faith in the Lord that Atlanta will be my ticket to the future.
