Myself, and my 15 year old teen will be moving to the area in June. I live now outside of DC and its just too high a cost of living here. I am looking for a SAFE place to live, and the best public high school I can find.

A few facts about us....
- I work from home, so the commuting for my job is not an issue.
- My teen will need to be taken to Marietta for their chosen sport 3-4 times a week during the evening and on weekends. Don't mind fighting traffic occasionally for this.
- Looking to rent at approx 1000-1200 on month. Less would be fabulous, but don't want to pay less and feel unsafe.
- Would prefer home to rent that doesn't include taking care of the lawn, so condo or townhouse might be best option.
- Looking to stay and be comfortable there until at least June of 2013.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Anywhere along 285 N / east of 75 N would work well for you. marietta, vinings, roswell, sandy springs, kennesaw are all loaded with reasonably priced, upscale, gated apartment complexes. Expect to pay $1 per sq ft in rent.

i agree. i used to live in kennesaw and felt very safe. think the best high school in the area is walton high in marietta which was rated around 8th in the state if i recall. feel certain you can find something in your budget in that school district, tho there are some that are more expensive as well depending what ammenities you want.

Sith is right! I have heard great things about Walton High in Marietta. Carefully do your research on where you place your teen.
If you want the city feel I would recommend Buckhead/Perimeter (although traffic is a little crazy around there) it's the best place to feel like you have everything right up the street. If you want to slow down then Marietta or Vinings area might be cool but remember you get what you pay for. Promove is a great place that will help you locate an apartment at a good rate, allowing you to have a snapshot of the community, prices, amenities, county and schools.
