I moved to Atlanta when I was 18 to attend college. I planned on graduating and moving to Miami. Now, 10 years later I am still in Atlanta. Everyone says there is so much to do in Atlanta but honestly after 10 years of living here I can't find anything to do but go to bars and clubs. I am 28 years old and I am almost exhausted of living the bar/club/lounge lifestyle not to mention now that I am older and wiser of my spending habits it's a complete waste of money. I spent a lot of time in Orlando and although I would never want to live there it's a fun playful city with a lot of entertainment.

I guess it is time to be a tourist in my own city. Any suggestions on what the tourist do when they come here?

Other than the obvious- Disney, etc.- what "entertainment" venues does Orlando have that Atlanta doesn't?

For starters:

Go to a professional or college sports game.

Go to a concert or play.

See the Dali exhibit. Better do it soon, though.

Dragon Con.

Fernbank Science Center.

Fernbank Museum of Natural History/IMAX theater.

Botanical Garden.

Oakland Cemetery.

Georgia Aquarium.

World of Coke.

Chomp and Stomp.

Drive In-Vasion.

Tongo Hiti.

Candler Park Fall Fest.

Inman Park Festival.

East Atlanta Strut.

Virginia-Highland Summerfest.

Dogwood Festival.

Yellow Daisy Festival.

Highland Games.

Little Five Points Halloween Parade.

Summer Shade Festival.

Indie Craft Experience.

Southeastern Flower Show.

National Black Arts Festival.

Atlanta Film Festival.

Sweet Auburn Festival.

Atlanta Jewish Film Festival.

King Center.

CNN Center Studio Tour.

Atlanta International Auto Show.

Georgia Shakespeare Festival.

Six Flags.

White Water.

Yellow River Game Ranch.

Zoo Atlanta.

Cyclorama.

Decatur _________ Festival. (Seriously, fill in the blank with any word, and it's probably a real festival).

Piedmont Park.

Hike (or bike) the Beltline.

Climb Stone Mountain.

Screen on the Green.

Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

Any of numerous free concerts at the Rialto.

Go to the top of the Westin.

Dozens of 5Ks. Pick one and start running.

Take your dog to the coffe shop/dog park in Reynoldstown.

Tour the 3 historic homes in Roswell aka the Trilogy Tour. Or do a Friday evening ghost tour, then enjoy a meal at any of the great, non-chain restaurants on Canton Street.

Or walk, hike bike along the Chattahootchee River.

Take a tour of the Fox Theater or Margaret Mitchell House in Midtown.

Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield is a nice hike and view. Just around the corner is "the Big Chicken" in Marrieta.

Of course don't miss the Atlanta History Center. It's one of the most fascinating places in the city if you want to get an in depth perspective on our town.

I'd also recommend a visit to the State Capitol.

Go for cocktails at the Sundial.

Of course I agree with you but Orlando can certainly hold it's own in terms of entertainment even without Disney & the obvious . Besides our theme parks & dinner shows, Orlando and Atlanta are pretty evenly matched with the exception of sports, a category Atlanta certainly dominates.

I never said Orlando couldn't hold it's own- I was curious as to what was available there that can't be found in Atlanta. The OP made it sound like we were missing something here Orlando has.
