Atlanta - ATL Airport - Flightline Aviation Media Planespotting Guide

I've heard the South Parking Deck is one of the better sports, But it depends on the direction they are taking off/landing.

There is a guy that records a ton of plane spotting videos from hartsfield on youtube. It won't be hard to find in a search for hartsfield.

He is one of those guys that can't stay quiet and he narrates his videos and is absolutely hilarious to listen to! He gets into it. Anyways If you watch those videos it might give you some ideas, because hes always in a different place. Only bad part is you will kind of have to figure it out from context clues in the videos.

When winds are out of the east College Park train station parking. Also bouldercrest Park is another good area when winds are from the west. Camp Creek Marketplace LA Fitness parking lot is a good locations when winds are out of the east. Also the south terminal parking deck provide a real up close view.

There's a cellphone lot on the south side of Terminal Pkwy. which looks right over the south taxiways and runways.

Map...it's the little long sliver of parking

Street View...it's changed since the street view imagery was taken. There's now an entrance at this spot.

Dammit...just noticed that this thread is five years old. Sucked in again!

Renaissance on Virginia?

If so - if you go to the Thai Heaven restaurant on the corner of Virginian and Norman Berry Drive ( a couple of blocks up from the hotel) their porch should give you a decent view.

But this is an interesting thread.

So I asked my neighborhood friends because I am curious too. Here is what I got:

1. Cellphone lot at the airport (South Terminal). If you go around 11am you can see the Korean Airbus 380 take off.
2. Behind College park Marta Station next to the police department building.
3. The parking lot behind the Motel 6 on Virginia Ave in East Point.
4. On Sundays when they are using the 5th Runway, you can go to the Forest park Farmers market and watch.

The Cellphone lot was the most common recommendation.
