hi, i have been debating for a few weeks now whether to leave los angeles and move back home and have gotten some great responses. but there is a more specific question i would like to ask, about the overall boho factor of atlanta.
i spent lots of time in little five points as a punkrock youngster, and of course it got gentrified eventually and then stuff started happening in east atlanta. loved the earl and the echo lounge, etc., there were quite a few bands in town that were awesome, and the eyedrum is pretty amazing, etc.
but its been five years since i have been a part of any sort of scene there and most of my friends have moved to either NYC, asheville, or here. so i don't have a good back-home barometer from fellow artists.
was just reading about that collective in atlanta that got busted for having a party- and i was amazed. i am a part of a collective here that does the same thing and the cops only come out occasionally, and they really don't care, just tell us to turn down the music, no strongarming, busting down the door, fines etc. and this is the LAPD. (they really aren't that bad, actually, things have been cleaned up and i could tell you some benevolent LA cop stories that are quite good actually!) that worried me. but i am not there, i don't know the situation or how badly the artists have antagonized the neighbors, etc., so i am loathe to use that as an indicator of the overall boho factor as i call it.
i have already asked about filmmaking opportunities in the city, but really wanting an overall picture- any up-and-coming underground movements in atlanta, indie-wise, that might interest me? I am a vj and do projections and would really need to continue that in atlanta if i moved back. so i would like to know what the latest pool of wacky musicians and artists are in the city. any info on the scene as it were, would be deeply appreciated!!!!!!!!

familiar with the CL, but that isn't really word-on-the-street stuff.
