I am starting this thread in hopes that other posters will also contribute. Every once in a while for fun, I do a search on the internet looking for different places in the PRC (Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau) where you can see the ROC flag and/or the Guomindang party flag. Many outsiders may not realize it but even though the ROC flag may not be displayed publicly in media or by individuals out on the street in these places, it can still be found in history museums and other designated places of historical interest, especially landmarks associated with Dr. Sun Yat Sen, the founder of the Republic. Rarer but still spottable are the five color Beiyang flag and the original TongMengHui eight point flag. This is not an exhaustive list but here are a few:

Nanjing:

As the former national capital, Nanjing probably has the most places where you can spot the ROC flag

Yeah, spotting the ROC flag while in the PRC is like treasure hunting. I'm sure there are a lot more historical places with the ROC flag so anyone else feel free to share and maybe the next time we're in China, we'll hunt them down to see.

EVERYTHING is made in China it seems. US flags, US Marine emblems, Army boonie hats (all replicas), etc. I wish I was back in Shanghai I probably could find a street vendor selling these flags. Give credit to the Chinese citizens, if they can make money from it they don't care what the government says, they will find a heat transfer tshirt printing device and make it happen.
Funny story, I wanted a Korean War US Air Force jacket to honor my fathers service, a very specific USAF jacket from that time. I found it, a replica ordered it from China, all to exact US military specs. The irony that PRC military "volunteers" were the enemy that were trying to kill my father (and my father successfully gave in kind) was not lost on me.
I don't think the ROC flag is outright outlawed, but we both know that PRC has methods to discourage showing the flag.

Hung Lau in Hong Kong was one of the very few places in all of HK where the ROC flag was openly displayed and I mean not even inside a museum but out in the open.

I myself have visited it twice in the past when the ROC flags were up though not in recent years so I don't know what it looks like now. It was kind of a trek to get to and not at all in a touristy location. Sadly, with HK's new National Security Law and the sale of the property to a Mainland owner, I don't think it is possible for the public to visit anymore and I am not surprised if the flags have been removed.
