The Yunnan International Education Exhibition has been successfully held nine times by Education Department of Yunnan Province (EDYP) since 2005, with the goal of serving students, families, schools, educational organizations and society as a whole. It aims to keep pace with the advancements in international schooling systems; promote co-operation with institutions throughout the world; introduce and recommend modern high quality educational resources, modules and ideas at home and abroad. Since 2005, more than 2,215 universities, colleges and other educational organizations have exhibited and over 155,000 people have attended the most important international educational event in Southwest China --- Yunnan International Education Exhibition.
To build a high-quality communication platform for educational institutions and students, the Ninth Yunnan International Education Exhibition (Summer Fair) has been successfully held during June 23-29 in Kunming, Yuxi and Honghe, with 368 booths and 15,000 audience. Among these, International Education Exchange and Immigration Consulting area had 93 booths involving 360 overseas study projects of 150 schools from more than 20 countries. At the same time there proceeded 10 studying-abroad seminars given by embassies or consulates of UK, Germany, Italy and France, as well as by overseas study agencies. According to questionnaires on the spot of the summer fair, the audience consulting studies abroad accounts for 64.6% of the total number.
Recently, overseas study experienced a rapid growth, more and more very young students choose to study in a foreign country. In 2013, TOFEL and the IELTS test attracted over 8,400 participants. Many students are also leaving the province without taking these tests and directly entering foreign language preparation schools as their pathway to an international education. To accommodate the tendency and to meet enrollment needs of foreign schools (2 – 3 times of college entrance application), 2013 the Ninth Yunnan International Education Exhibition (Autumn Fair) will be held during October 26-27, in Kunming.
