We will be going on a road trip through Missouri (from Springdale to Eureka Springs area and then a few days later from Memphis to Little Rock and then a *** over to Murfreesboro before we head down to Texarkana) later this year. I've found most of the tourist attractions we want to hit up, but I haven't found many distilleries. I'm hoping some locals may know of some off our route that they can recommend. If there is a cool winery or brewery you would also suggest that's roughly along that route, please let me know as well. The trip is mostly for our daughter . . . but my husband would very much enjoy visiting some distilleries!!

There are a couple of wineries in Eureka Springs, but to be perfectly honest, it's not like visiting a real winery. There's no vineyard experience. If you're planning your visit for the beginning of August, there is the Tontitown Grape Festival which you might enjoy. I believe there is a tasting room in Tontitown, and there's a new tasting room in Springdale for wines. Other than that, for wineries, you're best bet is the River Valley. Altus has the Post Winery and the Wiederkehr Winery.

There are a few breweries in Fayetteville. Since Benton County was a dry county for many years, the brewery scene is just getting started there. Little Rock has several breweries as well.

Yeah Altus is neat when I went to school in Ozark they had two associates degrees in winemaking, Ozark is about 5 minutes from Altus.

"lost forty brewing" in downtown little rock has a great little restaurant/bar with a glass wall separating it from the brewery. the food is actually worth the visit! they have a facebook page, if you want to ck them out. there are other brewery places around little rock, but i have been to this one and can recommend a visit. the owners have several other very successful restaurant concepts around little rock.

Rock Town distillery in Little Rock, but I don't know what there is to "visit".

Several wineries in the Altus area, just off I-40.

And I've seen "moonshine" from the White River distillery that I'm pretty sure is in Arkansas.

jimnelson1 is right. The only winery area with more than one small winery here and there is Altus. If you like the wine in MO you might find these wineries interesting and fun, but overall the wine isn't going to be nearly as good as CA, France, Spain, New Zealand, or So. American wines in my opinion. We did the wine trail in MO a few years ago. Have a fun trip.

We mainly hit breweries on our trip - but found the distillery in Little Rock to be pretty good. Don't think we ended up hitting any wineries in Arkansas - we hit the ones in Missouri and Tennessee though!

Historically (and currently), most distilling operations, particularly in the Ozarks, are small operations in undisclosed locations - visitors are NOT encouraged.
