One of the main reasons for the hiring freeze for CVUSD is because the budget is over by $800,000+ for this fiscal year. So far, no teachers have lost jobs, although they did have a small layoff that took effect 1/31/08. Technically there is a hiring freeze, but there are exceptions to every rule. Hope fully the freeze will be lifted after the end of the fiscal year.

Default Former NY resident

Michelle, I've lived here for over 30 years and I'm from NY. I am so sad to be stuck here now away from family in NY. Its hotter than the Dickens here and if you aren't Mormon or Mexican you are out of place. It's not the NY feeling you and I are used to. There are block fences in every yard and I swear every house looks the same and is the same color. It gets so hot here you want to die. The job maret is bleek and unless you have a boat it's Boring with a capital B. There is no water here to speak of and when you do find it it's surrounded by rocks. No grass, just rocks.
It's desolate, lonely and bare. No green. Save yourself and go somewhere else. Arizona for for old people who never get out of the house. I hate it.

A lot of teachers are losing their jobs even here in Yuma. I wouldn't recommend any teacher relocating to this state because we don't have a good union here. Basically this means that if you are lucky enough to find a job, then the school district can treat you anyway they want for 3 years then find a reason to fire you. This reason that they may come up with could be anything from not dressing nice enough to having health problems. If you are teacher, try to find a job where there is a strong union so you can have more protection.
