Well I just found this board and it's been very helpful!!!

We will be in AZ in a couple of weeks with our 2 kids 4, 1 for a vacation/ house hunting!!!

New home builders what do people think of Centex homes?

Is Queen Creek the next booming place? It looks affordable still 200,000 for 4-5 bedroom. North of Seattle is getting out of hand.

Schools and commute time are the big ? for my wife and I. We are looking at Christian Schools in az and will live in west or east depending on home and jobs.

Thanks,
michael

If you have read any of the topics here you know that living in the area you work is a MUST. Don’t drive more then 30 minutes each way to work. If rush hour traffic you could be looking at a much longer wait in the drive to work each morning. Everything can become grid-locked both freeways and surface streets at particular times during the day.

Queen Creek is on the s/e area of the valley and a long way from the inner-city however if you don’t need to work in the inner-city then you’re in luck. I’ve not heard about Centex homes. There was a problem in the east or southeast valley areas with the ground opening up and forming a long crack both wide and deep. Also shifting or moving soil has been a problem for many new homes causing structural problems in some homes by some buildings. (see a link in this forum titled “moving soil” )

Any problems with moving soil?
