Hi we are looking to get out of California. We have three daughters, our youngest, almost ten years, has autism (high functioning). Can anyone tell us the best district to move into. We have been considering Queen Creek, Kingman, or around the Camp Verde area. We are open, to the idea of any other areas. We would like to buy a home with maybe an acre. My husband is a Tanker Driver so we would need to find work for him also. Thank you for any suggestions

Hello -- The Peoria Unified School District has good Special Ed services for Autistic students. The district covers the northern part of Glendale and most of Peoria. We have two autistic children on our cul-de-sac and they both go to school -- the bus comes and picks them up. One is a high school student. Of course, the Peoria Unified District is in the Phoenix area, so it is in a much more populated area.

I have a hunch that the Kingman area may be a good one for a truck driver. Kingman is about a day east of the LA area, and is right on the interstate. There are truck stops in the area and several terminals. I do not have any direct knowledge about the school district there. I do know that the community is now over-built with brand new houses, many of which are now standing empty and it is a buyers market out there. It is frequently windy in the area; in fact they are building a wind farm in the area to produce electricity. A Wal-Mart Distribution Center was planned for Kingman and has recently been tabled, though not cancelled. A new factory was just announced last week, which will be built in the business park. There is a large kitchen cabinet manufacturer there, and they hire truckers to deliver to their customers. The local paper is called the Kingman Daily Miner. It may have some helpful info for you. Good luck with your move!
