Wondering if anybody been to these towns and what were your initial impressions?

Did you like the area? Did you like the scenery? Did you like the people there?(etc.)

I drove thru show low a few weeks ago. i liked it. I wouldn't consider it paradise, but it was a nice sized community - it looked clean and safe (but not sure 100%). Not really desert, more low mountains. It's the entry way into the white mountains. the drives north are in the mountains, and are really nice going into payson.

You could call some local shops out there and talk with the locals.

Yeah, just asking what other people thought of it. I was curious. My ma used to live between Snowflake/Taylor and Concho. I took the family out there one time to see her. Just getting other opinions as to what people thought of the area.

I have to say the ride to Phoenix from Snowflake (going through San Carlos Indian Res.) was really nice. Going through Salt River Canyon was unexpected. Think mini-Grand Canyon.

Petrified Forest was something to see too. Felt like you were on the moon. Strange landscape.

One thing i noticed about Snowflake/Taylor that it's a mecca for Rodeo enthusiasts. Also, it's a Mormon town.

I live only about 40 miles from Show Low and have to drive through Snowflake and Taylor to get there. All are gorgeous towns, very picturesque. They can be cliquey at times due to the high Mormon population. In many of the communities, if you aren't LDS then they pretty much freeze you out. But like I said, the places are gorgeous and have some fantastic history if that is what you like.
