How much damage was done yesterday due to high winds? Was it isolated near the hillside or what? How long did it last? Any injuries?

Oh wow, I didn't know it was that far west. I thought it was primarily in the Anchorage bowl. Thanks for responding.

I don't know of any damage, but I read somewhere that there were reports of 120 MPH winds on the hillside of Anchorage.

Most of the damage this time was due to either flooding from the massive snow melt, or numerous vehicle accidents on the slick, icy roads. Most of the wind damage this time seems to have been minor, confined to the usual downed fences, broken tree limbs, and spotty power outages. Its probably because most of the major wind damage occured during the last significant windstorm in October where all of the big stuff that was going to break loose, did so.

This one was unusual though in that I had effectively 5 solid days of high sustained winds at my place. Most times the winds last one or two days max. The highest gust recorded by my weather station this time was 81.6 mph on Wednesday morning.

The old pizza place in Sterling had the back half of it's roof, flipped over the front of the building!
I'll get a picture tomorrow.

Wow. You know what p's me off? When this kind of thing happens in the lower 48, it's on the national news. But when it's Alaska, not a word. WTH is up with that?

Same thing with weather reports. Alaska & Hawaii are never mentioned down here.
