To all of those people (4 of us) who were interested in Backyard chickens in Anchorage, well it's legal now!

There will be an informal "lessons in keeping chickens" on May 4th, 7pm
@ 3842 Willams, Anchorage AK.

It would be a good opportunity to see it first hand although it seems a little pricey to look at someones back yard.

Chicken class? Just feed and water them and give em a place to sleep! And get one of those big road island red roosters to protect them! You might have to fend him off with a stick come feeding time but he'll keep the weasles at bay!

Tell that to my neighbor (Lionheart Drive/Wonder Park Elementary). For years, the old **** let you know he ruled his roost, and chickens weren't even legal then, let alone roosters. HOWEVER, I think it's a positive thing to let folks exercise the self-sufficiency (chickens are as practical and common-sense as you can get) that's made Alaska the great state it is. Now, if we could only get the Muni to reconsider that crazy 4th of July fireworks ruling. It will drive both you and your chickens nuts!

Rhode Island red roosters are the nastiest, meanest, two legged feathered cockerel ever to live! plus noisy as they will crow all day long!
