Summer is officially over; celebrate the new season with these delicious cocktails perfect for fall!
Fall Ciderhouse Sangria
24 oz Sandeman Founders Reserve Porto
3 oz maple syrup
2 Granny Smith Apples
24 Oz Apple Cider
3 oz Rye Whiskey
Dice apples and set aside. Mix remaining ingredients together in pitcher. Add apples. Lit sit for at least 12 hours (or overnight).
My winey bridge group took a 2 day trip to KC last week, I could not go cause I was in Ca. Anyway one thing they did, was attend a cooking class. As well as playing bridge and drinking wine, most are avid cooks. Anyway here was the recipe they enjoyed: It is more summer but could be adjusted for fall:
Peach Sangria
2 750 cc bottles of peach Chardonnay
1 cup oj
1 cup peach schnapps
2 TBSP genadine syrup
1/4 Cup simple syrup
juice from 1 lemon
1 16 oz pkg of frozen unsweetened sliced peaches (defrosted)
Place the first 4 ingredients in a large container.
Place simple syrup, and peaches in a blender and puree.
Add puree to wine mixture and mix well. Chill at least 2 hours
Serve over crushed ice in wine glasses (balloon ones if you have then) Thread wedges of lime, lemon and orange onto woodern skeweres and place one across top of each glass. Makes about 8 to 10 cups.
