wow! Everyone tells us it is cheaper in NM...but we are finding out it is cheaper here in VA, the houses in NM are expensive per square
foot compared to here, My hubby and I are reconsidering our move there, for only about 5 dollars more an hour it seems not to be worth the move to NM, we thought it was for more but...found out it is not.
22.11- hubby's pay now and what he will be getting there- 27.63.
We may not get what we want for our house if we sell, the realestate agent wants us to sell low...which will not work because we need to get enough to pay off this house, our house needs some work on it, painting, minor repairs, but to be honest we haven't seen anything in NM that is worth the prices they are selling at . So fustrating. WE were also told water there is extremely high, and gas for heating, cooking etc. is high, here we have all electric. We are trying to figure out if the move is worth the pay. It doesn't seem so. Was hoping it would work out for us.

Thanks rybert, I was really trying to find something that will make it worth us moving there, so far nothing...UGH so upsetting. All we keep hearing is how poor a state NM is. But when we look up cost of living it is higher then VA. I so wanted to move.

The Land of Entrapment
I thought it was the land of Enchantment......This has become the most difficult decision for us, unfortuantly they wont send us their to check out NM until after we say a positive yes , tyring to find out about you alls taxes their, property taxes, car , house. The houses are not selling here in Va, so that is a problem right there, cannot afford not to sell this place if we move. My guess is we will wait until the economy picks up again, if it ever will.
The gas prices here are going down fast today it is 1.73 a gal.

The thought of picking up and moving for such a little raise scares me.
