We went to the "The 6th Annual Salsa Fiesta" in Albuquerque’s Old Town on Saturday, August 14th. Admission was
free, if you wanted to taste salsa (about 71 different entries) a wristband was $4.00. I only wonder why I missed
the previous 5 Fiesta's. A lot of bands and people dancing.
People tasting salsa...
A salsa contestant.
Sometimes you need a drink of water.
Contestants make five gallons of salsa on site that day.
Professorial salsa dancers.
Some more professorial salsa dancers.
A happy salsa contestant.
A happy salsa judge on her 18th sample, with 50+ more samples to go. That's a good deal for $4.00!
Plenty of people tasting salsa!
Cuban dancers... They were Caliente !
Audience couple enjoying the band.
Couples from the audience enjoying the band.
Different bands just kept playing with short breaks...
They were still dancing at 8:30 PM when we left
There were other events we did not get a chance to see. In the Plaza Don Luis, a Children’s area will included face painting, games and arts/craft activities. 1:00 to 6:00 PM. Several Old Town area restaurants featured special offerings of New Mexico wines provided by members of the New Mexico Winegrowers Association. Each participating restaurant will offer its own version of Salsa Fiesta specials that will introduce patrons to new food and wine pairings. Also other New Mexico Salsa bands dancers appeared in patios, streets throughout Old Town from 1 PM to 6 PM.
