Does anyone have Verizon coverage and drive fairly often between here and Colorado Springs/Denver? If you do, does Verizon have cell coverage on that strip of I-25? Their coverage map shows they do, but what's your experience been with coverage and dropped calls along the route?

I have Sprint and I'm ready to dump it. Absolutely no coverage that strip of I-25 (even their coverage map shows zilch) and the data speed here in ABQ has been unacceptable for months. Last straw is the new iPhone I just bought, and needing a wifi connection to download apps or access the internet as data connection constantly times out.

That's a pretty desolate strip of interstate to drive, but I'd be willing to drive instead of fly if I had cell coverage along the interstate.

This is an ironically appropriate thread for me. I found this thread by Googling "Sprint coverage in Albuquerque." I am allowed a generous discount on Sprint services through my work, but cheap isn't good if it doesn't work well. I've asked two friends what they thought of Sprint coverage around here and both said it's terrible.

I have an iPhone with AT&T and have coverage from Albuquerque to Santa Fe on I-25, except for that dip near the San Felipe casino. It drops the call, or gets quiet for a few moments, then starts back.

I know that doesn't answer your question very well, but thank you for your input on Sprint coverage in ABQ. It's helpful to me...

Not recently... Maybe five years, Rio Rancho to Denver several times, maybe 7 times. The wife has had Verizon since those visits. We never had any problems.

I moved here Jan 2008, and have had Sprint the entire time. Up until this past year, I would have told you that the coverage and service was good and I had no complaints. This past year, though, it's really gone downhill. I've been told at the Sprint store that the problems are due to Sprint upgrading the metro area to 4G LTE and that there are towers out of service at various times and in various locations. I do know that the Android data service is MUCH better than the iPhone data service (so much that the new iPhone that matches my car is going back this weekend and being traded for another boring black Android, LOL). Even then, the data service IS slower than it used to be. I sincerely hope the upgrade is close to being finished.

As for ABQ to DEN Sprint coverage, there isn't any. I think it stops just a bit north of SF. Plus, no coverage on the way to Taos. That's from personal experience and is validated by simply looking at the Sprint coverage map. OTOH, to be fair, if you're going the other direction and down to Phoenix, Sprint coverage is great.

I have Verizon and recently made the trip from ABQ-Denver (and back). Had coverage for most of the way, cept a small 15-20 mile stretch through Raton Pass. Even there, it was spotty. I was actually pretty impressed given how desolate the area is.

I have Verizon and make the drive at least twice a year. There is no service or it's is very sketchy about 25 miles north of Las Vegas until you get about 20 miles south of Raton. There's a good 30 minute stretch in there with no service. Then, there's no service for about 20 miles through Raton Pass. Service is also sketchy midway through Trinidad and Pueblo. Once you are 40 miles or so to Pueblo, the service is good the rest of the way to Colo Springs.
