Are there any good, dependable web hosting services in ABQ that anyone can recommend? (not internet providers) Thanks!

Too funny. The fact that this thread has many views but no replies reinforces my suspicions that providing this service in ABQ could be a great business opportunity for the right person.

I didn't reply to this before, figuring someone with more knowledge than I could give you a more authoritative response. But, since no one else has jumped in...

I can offer a recommendation of Southwest Cyberport for web hosting. They handle much of my company's web services, as well as many other small and large companies in ABQ. They have have a pretty solid reputation around town. Hope this helps!

Chap

I don't know about web hosting, but I wish someone would open a dedicated server/colocation facility with a lot of available bandwidth. It's inconvenient and annoying having to outsource to Dallas or Michigan like I do now.

Default I saw some data center space for sale a few months ago

The price was around $25/sqft but it was a massive facility. I work in Abq but work for a managed services and colo company that is based in another state. I have a feeling there are other remote workers in Abq in the IT field as the IT job market in Abq is not the best. I agree that there is a great market for the right IT business shop in Abq.

I don't see any reason whatsoever to buy web "hosting" from a local company. All you are doing is buying space on a hard drive that services the visitors to your website. I run a number of websites, and I evaluate hosting services based on price, uptime, storage space, support via email and phone, and so on. (Check Web Hosting Talk Web Hosting Talk - The largest, most influential web hosting community on the Internet should give you some good recommendations.)

At no time did I ever think that the hosting service had to be within driving distance. I connect to them via FTP so who cares where they live! I'm never going to meet them.

Of course, if you are looking for a web designer, then try someone local so you can sit down for meetings. But if you're just looking for hosting, buy the best value.

Well if you plan on buying your own servers, then having a place locally is convenient when you need to change a hard drive or add more servers or do other maintenance that can't be accomplished using FTP. It's not real fun to drive 10 hours every time you need to do something like that.

Oh, and it also would help the local economy of course.
