Money magazine ranked Rio Rancho as the 58th-best place to live in America for communities with populations ranging from 50,000 to 300,000. It was the only New Mexico city which made the list.

Don't worry, next year it will be different cities, so stay put...

It does seem like a rotating stable of cities when it comes to these list. That said, Rio Rancho seems to consistently garner positive mention, relative to any other city of size in NM, minus Los Alamos. Rio Rancho, however, is much more affordable, and in the ABQ economic realm, which makes it a more practical choice.

I have been looking at the best place to live lists since the 60's, when I got drafted and was sent from sunny Florida to Sunny White Sands

Rio Rancho did not make the list one year because we did not have our own movie theater... We previously had one, but it went out of business when ABQ created a big shopping mall with theaters a mile or two away.

We are now retired and decided to just stay put... The top 10 places in that list do not appeal to us.
