This is why I no longer waste my time writing long, detailed posts. It's just not worth it.

And I've heard of Andorra as well. But here's some advice anyway:

By the way.. How willing to help are people there.. I mean would they give you a hand if needed, help is non existant where I am now, and people are not friendly at all contrary to what you might expect in this country.
You'll likely have the same problem in Alaska. People generally bring their issues with them.

I thought of you when I saw that response, because of exactly what you said. People post here asking questions, but wait, look! OP already knows everything! OP has all the answers! OP can tell and teach us all of the things! OP is smarter than ALL of the peasants!

There's possibly a language barrier, but seriously, OP, Alaska often isn't the best place to be when you "want to be alone." And since it seems like needing help is important to you...well people anywhere can turn on you really quickly if it becomes an expectation.

I don't know - she said that she's originally from Ireland, so while it is possible, I am not sold on the language barrier.

I have definitely come to view questions about people's willingness to help as a red flag. The phenomenon Parnassia described of communities gradually shunning people that drain others' time and resources, I have come to view as a sort of contemporary version of natural selection.

I was trying to be nice for once, but I'm not very good at it.

You are arguably and alternately better at it than me. Good effort! That was Niceness Level 1 on a scale of 1 to 10

Great to hear I'll be going to a country where people are so knowledgeable about the world. Since I'm more humble, hopefully they'll be able to enlighten me..

It’s always the ones who know the least about you who judge you the most..

I'm a single woman who's made a go of it in rural Alaska. It's doable but there's a steep learning curve even if you're from a rustic area yourself, which I am. I have to admit I've come pretty close to getting myself killed a couple of times through dumb mistakes, mostly related to vehicles and cold.

Not sure it's worth offering any practical stories or suggestions given that the thread's already devolved.

For what it's worth, I also know where Andorra is, lol.
