3rd day of trip in BC, just made it to the alcan.

Abbotsford, gas is 118.9. Roads are great, very little to no construction. Once you leave Hope the prices climb to 129.9 a liter. Take lots of time and lots of pictures. Great changes from trees, to desert, to rivervalleys. About an hour north of Hope the construction begins every 30 miles or so. Some you shut down and wait your turn other completely breeze by. At 100 mile house I hit a HUGE rain/hail/lightning storm. Even the locals were talking about it. Hail as big as marbles. Williams lake gas was 129.9. I stayed at the Lazee Bee RV Park just sound of Prince George. Very simple, and rustic. A little wet due ot the cloudbursts from the hail storm. But perfect, just a couple of mosquitos.

Prince George was 129.9, good Tim Hurton's was at, turn left at the playhouse and casino intersection, then right at the next light by the home improvement store. Fast, fresh, good. The only gas place in Mackenzie was 127.9. Road construction was getting more frequent, but less waiting. No frost heaves that I notice even though they had the signs up. Took a long lunch in Chetwynd. Lots of pictures of the chainsaw carvings. SO many I Dawson Creek was 127.9 a liter. Weather has been great . Stayed the night at the Rotary RV Park at Charlie lake in Fort St. John. Great place. I highly recommend it. Gas in Fort St. John is 135.9.

Fort St. John Timmy's is very clean and quick, tons of oil field workers. Gassed up at Pink Mountain, 159.9. But that is the last reliable gas till Fort Nelson. Great drive, the Fireweed is regularly along the road. The roads are getting rougher, but not bad. The worst part sp far is Suicide hill and the next 100 miles. There you will hit the loose gravel patches on a very regular basis. More rain and completly overcast.

Currently sitting in the Fort Nelcon visitors center. Gas here is at 144.9. Visitor center is at the end of town going northbound. Incredible place, new, very clean and not even a password for the wi-fi. Tons of maps, good advice and lots of windows for the sun.

if you have any questions just ask I will do my best to answer. Off to Liard Hot Springs for the night.

This is a great thread as folks move up the Alcan. Maybe we could get another Alaska reality show out of it.

U-Haul has notoriously horrific customer service because they know they have a near monopoly on this market. They don't care about thier customers because they don't have to.

Girthy-we must have passed each other at some point... I usually ended up paying around 1.35 a liter for fuel. I just beat that huge wind/rain/hail storm.

I'm thinking "Women of the Alcan". Just something about the beauties up here. For one they don't sit out in the sun all summer and "tan". While crispy bacon is nice to eat I sure wouldn't want my skin to look like it. Seems like women in the southern lower 48 have some twisted ideas about what beauty is.
