What's so wrong about Little Rock, Arkansas getting any kind of pro team the people of this state really need something like this.

I know Florida has three teams already but it is about the money, not a state that has no team. Not only that, Birmingham needs to clean up the city. That place is a dump and I mean that kindly. Some areas on the outside of Birmingham is beautiful but downtown is terrible.

Birmingham looks like any other large Metro city. If that is the comparison then New York looks like Do Do on a stick.. And it stinks to go with it. But I grew up in West End, and I can honestly say that Downtown Birmingham is getting alot better than it was in the past as far as Commerce and attractions. There is a reason why the Metro area is over a million and the city won best place to move to two years in a row. Now, with the Dome they are getting ready to build downtown, even if they dont get the NFL, they stand a better chance to get a MLB team which is another draw they have been trying to get in the HAM.

Exactly!!! Birmingham PRO football teams had the best attendance of the leagues they were in; Birmingham Stallions, Birmingham Vulcans, Birmingham Americans, etc. Birmingham is a football city, they would support an NFL team like no other city I am sure of it.

Just weighing in on one of my fave topics:Sports.

1) Who is the megamillionaire willing to put up the billion or so?

Once you have that answered, then we get to talk about stadiums.

Cities and states don't get to declare "We want a pro sports team!", nor does the NFL or any league just wander into a town (other than MLS) and say "We want to put a team in your city, who's got the cash, and build a stadium while you're at it".

Best bets for Alabama Pro Sports

1) MLS -

a)would require least amount of cash for startup and stadium

b) MLS would like a team in the Southeast and would be best if it wasn't Atlanta.

2) NBA? - Grizzlies on the move, but probably OK City

That's it, that's the list.

You didn't help bring a NFL team to Jacksonville..unless you are a Billionaire or Multi-Millionaire , that's what brought a NFL Team to Jacksonville FL Lots And Lots Of Money. And the NFL is begging L.A. to let them bring a Team To L.A. but Los Angeles Tax Payers Won't Foot The Bill For A New Staduim... No Way Jose And You Better Beleive That...L.A. Kicked The Rams And The Raiders Out Of L.A. Because Building A Staduim Would Cost Them Anywhere From Between 750,000 To Well Over A Billion Dollars To Do It Right ..And L.A. is still a World Class City Wthout The NFL Anyways And By The Way For Everybody On The Boards Information Los Angeles Metropolitan Population Is Well Up Into The Neighborhood Of 20,000,000 The Census Doesn't Counter Orange County..San Bernardino County..Riverside County ..Ventura County And The Southern Portion Of Santa Barbara County As Metropolitan L.A. pretty much like They Don't Count San Jose And Oakland Along With San Francisco As One Metropolitan Bay Area Of Over 7,000,000 People And Wahington D.C. Along With Baltimore As A Single Metropolitan Area Of Over 8,000,000 People..Google Birmingham And Go To Wiki And Read Up On The Demographics..Birmingham Doesn't Have The Fortune 500 Corporations And Deep Pocket Billionaires Movers And Shakers...And Most Importantly The Disposable Middle Class Income To Bring The NFL To Town. I think that Birmingham Will Have A Team In 8 To 12 Years...Peace From Cali...

prediction--------Birmingham and Little Rock will not get an NFL or MLB team in my lifetime.

I'm 62 and in good health,so --in my lifetime--is vague.

I will correct my prediction by saying-------not in the next 25 years.

I didn't get a chance to read every post so I hope this wasn't listed already.

If they were to award Birmingham with an NFL franchise, (I'd love it but highly doubtful) their best bet is to put the stadium in between Birmingham and Huntsville. Thus drawing money from both cities and fans as well. There are a good amount of stadiums not in the city where the team represents.

But a NFL franchise in Alabama is risky considering the love for Alabama and Auburn and college football as a whole. It would actually be a bigger draw near Huntsville with all the people relocating in from around the country where the NFL is more popular.

With all the large companies in Huntsville: Toyota, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Adtran, Raytheon, etc. there is definitely the star power here for naming rights and purchasers of luxury boxes.

It might be a long shot, but if both cities pulled together, I am sure it could get done. In order for it to happen, we do need one big figure with a lot of money to spear head it all.
