http://bestsmileys.com/welcome/17.gif (broken link) we can use someone from Albertville area here. I know of one family who is looking to move to Albertville in the next month or so, hope you stick around to answer questions. You will find some great folks here.

I live in Arab and know a little about Albertville, but am not an expert by any means.

This is a great forum. City-Data also has general forums from automobiles to weather.

If you need any help on how to do anything, you can send me a Direct Message or check here..

Finally sold my house in Floridadumb - so my prayers have been answered. After looking this weekend, we found a home in Boaz. Hey, where neighbors. Boaz is really pretty where I bought, and quiet. Keeper, barricade Rt. #69 to Arab, because when I'm settled in, I'm going to take that offer to sip tea on your porch, and rock.

How long will it be before you move up?

Let me know if you need anything.

I am also looking to move to the area, I hope. Waiting to hear if I get a USDA job at Tyson. I now live in North Georgia and work at a chicken processing plant. I do have a problem with illegals but unfortunately they are anywhere poultry is located. I have to go where I can find a job so I have learned to deal with it. I will also be looking for a place to live but I have a small dog which limits locations as I know there are places that won't allow pets. Any help on areas of towns to stay away from would be helpful. I am a 51 year old single woman who is looking for a decent, peaceful place to live. I have looked in the paper there but not knowing anything about the area isn't helping me. I will be renting. Financially, I am not able to buy at this time. Any information will be appreciated.

Are you going to be in Albertville or down by Blountsville at the Tyson plant there? Rent is cheap here but you are right finding a place that will accept a pet is going to be a challenge. You might want to check out valleymls.com for rentals. I would also offer to pay a larger deposit if you find a good place to see if they will allow your dog.

We have just moved to Albertville, and although still remodeling the kitchen, should move in soon. We bought a very nice home behind Lowe's at the top of the hill. Our neighbors are cautiously friendly (some wave as they drive by) despite the fact that we are "outsiders".
Our friends who moved here with us bought in Arab. We looked in Arab, Union Grove, Guntersville and Grant. Albertville turned out to be right for us.
Just like to say that although we received some veiled, and some dire warnings about Albertville, we are to this point comfortable and optimistic. People (of all colors and heritage) have been generally "nice" to us when we are "nice" to them. We hope to meet more people through volunteer work and through our gardening interests, and we have great hopes for our life here.
I hope you will like it here too.

We moved to Boaz in June,2008 from the great state of Floridumb. I had inquired on the internet for small towns in Alabama. Through this forum - and the exceptional advice from Keeper may I add - we visited the many towns of Marshall County over a three month period. I asked a realtor for listings on the other side of the lake, like Scottsboro, Fyffe, etc. She never called me back. We settled in Boaz, and love it. Since day one, the people were so different then Floridadumb. We started looking for a church, and after four trips, we found Westside Baptist Church. That was the real start of meeting friends. We were invited to Bible Studies at church, as well as the Senior Citizen Center. Our frienship list really grew. My wife and I just started doing work for Shepards Cove - the county Hospice. As for the mix of people, there are many races. I will say hello to anyone, and really thats what these people are looking for. The people will generally return your nods, smiles, and greetings if you will meet them half way. I truly love the area, and now with fall approaching, its truly beautiful. Best of luck...

Glad things are going well for you notime.. We need to get together some of the CD folks who live in this area. Guntersville Boomer is going to be moving here in Dec.

Mavoufl.. I also moved here from FL. There is a couple from NY who live in Guntersville and they are big in the RSVP. There are a lot of volunteer opportunities there. I volunteer for Angel Food network a couple of days a month. It is also a great way to meet ppl. You can take Food orders or help pack up the boxes. It is usually church sponsored but you don't have to belong to the church to help out.

Notime is right.. if you are church going you will meet and make friends. I found the same thing here. Most of the ppl in my neighborhood have lived here 30-40 years. I am an outsider plain and simple. They speak, wave, nod and came over and welcomed me to the neighborhood but we aren't really friends.
