If I were single and in my mid 20's (both of which lasted for about 15 minutes), I'd keep looking for a better place to settle. Consider Atlanta, Nashville, or Orlando.
If your opinion of Alabama and Mississippi is so bad, why are you in the forum?

Montgomery might not be those so called great cities you named but the city has a made a vast improvement, so worry about where you call home.

Don't get so defensive tough guy. You're a bad ass behind the computer screen aren't you? I'm entitled to my opinion, as you are, and the OP was asking us for our opinions. Worry less about what I say, and add something constructive to the conversation. Not a single thing I said wasn't true.

I wouldn't be so quick to throw in the towel. After all, this has everything to do with a person's perspective on things and/or tastes.

For that reason, we need more information from the OP. What he's looking to get out of Montgomery. In other words, what will make him happy/content? What are his interests? Would he rather go clubbing, bar hopping, or catching a play, going to a museum, etc, etc..

Atlanta, Nashville and certainly Orlando aren't for everyone. Same goes for Jackson, Montgomery and Tallahassee. I, for one, prefer Raleigh over Charlotte.

As for you Mimp, I can appreciate your pride for your city and can relate. Montgomery isn't as bad off as lots of people can make it sound. Those very people are whats dooming Montgomery in the first place. (Anyone care to live in West Montgomery? Didn't think so.. But no one is in a hurry to gentrify/clean up that area, just continue to move out east.)
Anyway, I'm spurring further from my point.. As much as you have pride in your city, you were, in fact, being a bit too defensive about the comment. I assure you it is nothing personal against you or Montgomery. Trust me.
