Very rural means very few jobs and those are generally help by locals. Restaurants and/or bars are few and between in the rural areas.

Many "very rural" areas are dry. See map:

Try Loxley or Silverhill in Baldwin county.

Guntersville might work for you. There are rural areas all around N. AL just make sure the town is 'wet'.

Humacena's suggestions are good too. There is also Summerdale and/or Marlow. Close to Foley and gulf shores where there are lots of restaurants and bars

Maybe Stockton, and then commute closer to Mobile for work if necessary.

North Alabama and south Alabama are very different, so it really depends on what you prefer.

Stockton is a good suggestion - I love that area - it's a mix of rural and wilderness close to I65 (to Mobile or Wind Creek casino).

snl - what about availability of rental housing? Is Wind Creek hiring?

I'm not really sure, but I hear of people getting hired there every now and then. If I were to work at Wind Creek, I'd probably look toward Huxford-Uriah, or maybe down towards Perdido-Rabun (if wanting rural). Rentals are available, but there's a demand, I own rental property myself.

Here's a job list if the OP is interested.

A lot of folks who work at Wind Creek also live in Atmore or just across the line in FL.

Atmore isn't really rural though, most of the houses are on 1/4 acre lots and close together, it feels more suburban.

Bratt and Walnut Hill on the other side of the state line are probably more what the OP is looking for.
