Just curious about the progression of the Montgomery Bypass?

The last time I drove by (on I-85) it looked as if there was some progress.

Isn't East Blvd technically the Montgomery bypass?

Depending on where you're at, its either Eastern, Northern or Southern Boulevard. Originally, it was suppose to act as a bypass, but anyone that knows Montgomery knows it isn't a bypass anymore and hasn't been for a long time. Nor is it limited access. (except on Northern Blvd at or near I-65)

What I'm talking about is an official limited access planned bypass that begins around the vicinity of Mount Meigs and works its way south and eventually west to meet up with I-65. (I believe it is somewhere at or near the intersection of I-65 and Highway 80)

Seems like the last I heard of it, there was a piece built and there seemed to be a big push to work on more of it, and then everything stalled out and it hadn't been brought up in a while.

(Man, Montgomery needs its own subsection.)

Thanks for the article, Tourian! I've been searching for articles like this to no avail. Looks like you found something I couldn't!
I'm hoping there is a more recent update than this since this is about a year old already. Hopefully no more stalls.

Not sure how I feel about them replacing the existing I-85 with I-685 though. Seems as if it should be the other way around..
