This unusual case highlights how international adoption is so misunderstood and eyed suspiciously in some societies. An American couple of Asian ancestry adopts 3 African children, move to the Middle East where one of the kids with a history of malnutrition dies and now the parents are charged with her death.
In the West families of mixed cultures and races are not unusual but in the Middle East this is looked upon as strange and suspicious. I hope this family gets the help it desperately needs and deserves.

I'm not so sure the arrest of the parents have anything to do with the facnt that the family is in Quatar or that they are interracial. Not that long ago an American woman was arrested and charged with the death of her adopted son which was also linked to an eating disorder.
I'm also not so sure that there is no foul play just because the parents say so. 8-year olds shouldn't starve to death, eating disorder or not.
