You can report it or contact a moderator by DM to voice your concerns. If you do send a DM please include a link to a post by that member so it is easier to find.

Keep in mind that some people get a screen name change but they do not change their posting style. This could leave you to believe they have multiple names. But Keeper gave you the best advice!

I suspect this particular user is using two different user names simultaneously.

Or better yet, just report any post by the suspicious member. That'll bring the info a mod needs for easy checking right along with the report.

Usually in these cases, members are more familiar with posting styles than moderators are, so we welcome the suggestion to take a look at a suspicious member. Moderators can help because they have access to behind-the-scenes information that can confirm/refute a match between the suspicious member and the former/duplicate member. If you give us a nudge by submitting a report, we'll look into it.

Other than it being against the TOS.....why would anyone care if someone else is posting under two different names?

The question you should be asking is why it is against the TOS. Do you think it's there so that moderators can have more fun or what?

How would you figure that out anyway? I could see how it can be done internally. For those of us that are casual posters and are not a Moderator or Administrator how do you tell if someone is posting in more than one name? I know your going to figure out about this time that I am a little slow. LOL Don't worry I will catch on.

A multiple or second user identity is called a sock puppet (read the linked article). They are frowned upon at most forum sites because the practice is deceptive and is usually intended to annoy other members or create dissent. The primary way an ordinary member can detect this is through posting style--moderators also detect sock puppets by posting style. Moderators (depending on forum configuration settings) and administrators can also detect multiple user accounts by the user's IP address (your individual Internet connection's numeric address). Most forums display the IP address with each post although it is visible only to moderators and administrators. That's pretty much everything you need to know.
