Property valuation of Woodside Avenue, Brookfield, IL: 3720, 3721, 3728, 3728, 3728, 3801, 3805, 3809, 3813, 3817 (tax assessments)

I HAVE A NOSTALGIC INTEREST IN THE HOUSE AT 3813 WOODSIDE AVE.
My name is Ron Galla and was born in that house in 1935. At that time it was owned by my grandfather, OTTO SCHMUCKAL and occupied by my grandparents on the lower floor and my parents and me in the upper floor. I lived there until 1950 when my parents and I moved out of state. The town was still called "Hollywood" then.
I have not been back to visit the neighborhood since, but I remember that there was not a house in the lot next door, where I spent many happy hours as a child playing in our "side yard". I see by the public records that the house next door was built in 1966. Other than that, as I look at the neighborhood pictures on "google" I can see that nothing much has changed over the years. I have memories of my basketball backboard which I erected on the "island" in front of the house, where I spent many many hours shooting hoops, even in the snow in the winter. I also have memories of skating and playing hockey on the Des Planes River across 1st Ave. I could go on and on, but will just remember my memories for now and hope that perhaps the present owner will read this and respond with some comments on how the neighborhood has progressed or how they have been enjoying my childhood memories. My childhood bedroom was the room over the front porch. I'm sorry to see all the beautiful lilac trees are gone in the lot next door, but that's progress.
