La Valencia Hotel, La Jolla, CA



La Valencia Hotel has been a part of La Jolla, California since 1926. It was erected in a south western style akin to Mexico with red tile floor and roof. The walls are made from adobe in a neutral color. A lot of reds, yellows, and blues have also been used throughout the hotel. The guest rooms are a little different than the Spanish design in the common areas. The hotel rooms offer neutral tones in a more contemporary style.

The hotel is amply stationed in the little community with a number of museums, galleries, shops, and the coastline. The Pacific Ocean is found just outside the hotel with a beach running along the coast. Many trees and grassland make the area a one of a kind. It is not sparse, but full of life.

La Valencia Hotel has 113 luxury rooms, suites, and ocean villas. The villas offer a tropical decor with luxurious textiles and custom furnishings. Double occupancy or suites are available for any guest. The business traveler will also find that there are plenty of options including television, meeting rooms, conference amenities, and internet. Inside the guest rooms travelers can find Egyptian cotton, down comforters, whirlpool tubs, separate bath and shower, Plasma TVs, and balconies in the suites.

La Valencia has three restaurants including the Sky Room. Catering and wedding facilities are also on hand for the guest. In fact La Valencia hotel offers indoor and outdoor venues for meetings and weddings. The hotel has 24 hour in room dining, concierge services, complimentary shoe shine, dry cleaning, mail services, transportation options, a fitness center, pool and Jacuzzi, massage treatments, and valet parking.

Dining can happen at the Sky Room, Whaling Bar and Grill, Mediterranean Room, La Sala Bar, or Ocean View Terrace. At the Sky Room there is a California Fresh menu with seafood and fresh produce as the main options. They also have more than 1000 wines available. The Sky Room is open 5:30pm to 9:30pm for dinner and cocktails. The Whaling Bar and Grill was opened in 1950. It was and is the premier pub for La Jolla. They offer continental cuisine amongst the California goodies. This restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. Lunch begins at 11:30am, dinner at 5pm, and the restaurant closes at 10pm.

The Mediterranean Room is another delight. They offer Braised Lamb Shank Tajine, Kataffi Crusted Gulf Shrimp, and Grilled Alaska King Salmon. The restaurant is open for three meals a day. They begin serving at 6:30am, closing for a half hour before lunch at 11:30am, and dinner begins at 5pm. The restaurant shuts down at 10pm each evening. La Sala Bar is mostly for cocktails and appetizers. They offer bruschetta as well as duck leg tacos. The lounge opens at 8am to 10pm. The Ocean View Terrace has 12 private tables for three meals a day. Service begins at 8am and ends at 10pm each day. The restaurant overlooks the Pacific Ocean, offering many sunsets.
