Fresno Art Museum

The Fresno Art Museum was created to provide visitors with a venue, where they can appreciate and learn about art. The museum welcomes a variety of audiences each year in Fresno, California. The museum was founded in 1948, and has since expanded a bit to include more works of art than the original collection. The museum is open Thursday through Saturday 11am to 7pm and Sunday 12pm to 4pm. The museum is not open Monday through Wednesday. Admission is free for children five and under. Regular admission is $5 for non members, and students. Every Sunday visitors can get into the museum for free.

They have permanent and temporary exhibits each year. Currently, the museum is showcasing many of Ansel Adams' landscape pieces. He is a renowned landscape photographer, who did a lot of work in black and white. Some of the ongoing exhibits include Earth, Fire and Stone; Andean Pre- Columbian Artifacts, and local California artists. Among the artifacts on display are many from Mexican artists such as coyote statues and silver works. Much of the collection at the museum is older than 500 years, especially in the Stratton collection, which has pieces from 2500 years ago.
