Well I'm not a Libertarian but I am a land owner who believes in some sense of responsibility over my own fate in life. I don't want or need the government to hold my hand. With that said I wish more prescribed burns would occur thus taking out some of the high risks for fire. The bottom line is if you own the land then you need to take care of it as such. The government doesn't have to hold your hand. Is that a bad thing?

No, it’so a bad thing for you to take care of your property. It’s a fantasy to expect others will do the same. Some will. Some won’t. But none of that has anything to do with “government holding your hand.” And who is it that you are saying suggested so?

"What frequency of fires would make you leave California?"

1) I'm not planning on leaving. But then I'm not stupid enough to live in a fire zone, so there is that.

2) I'm hoping that lots of non-natives will leave, so the state will get better when they move back to their fly-over states.

Why limit it to”non-natives”? You don’t suggest that native Californians are all great folks, do you?

I have 2 young kids and of course I worry more for their health. Now we are starting to think about if we need to leave.

With global warming, it seems the fire seasons are getting longer and worse.

How much would you put up with before deciding to leave?

We left in 1988. The places we went to had more fires than Kali

Sorry if it was confusing but I we do not live in a fire area. The massive amounts of smoke and PM 2.5 get directed to wherever the wind is blowing, which is often over a large metropolis. Very unhealthy levels for kids and elderly. Yes otherwise the air is getting cleaner. But right now we are getting 1 week per year of very unhealthy air, with really nothing we can do. I would say 2 weeks a year would be too much.
