They think maybe second hand rat poison which is a major problem for the mountain lion population and many people are still using it even though it's banned

And unfortunately the animals didn't have to deal with a fast moving pack of Chevys 100 years ago. I guarantee you that a mountain lion or a wolf has more survival sense than 95% of humans out there. They would survive where most humans would roll over and die.

If you lose all your predators you would have a overpopulation of other animals. Most would be destructive to crops. Humans couldn't control the population.
Humans do die as nature intends. All things die as nature intends. Most of us have heard of the dodo bird that became extinct. There had been millions of extinctions before the dodo bird and thousands after. None of those extinctions hurt us or the planet. And neither would the extinction of the mountain lions, the wolves, etc.

Many people would die if they didn't have firearms to defend themselves from wild animals.

We need to build a pathway for them.
No. We need to cut exorbitant pensions and fund public schools and universities first. And also fund prisons so we can put criminals in there where they belong.

Have a link to stats backing this up? What I do see is the wholesale killing of humans by other humans with guns. Oh, I know, ccw would solve this; even take care of the sniper that killed 58 people in Vegas.
Keep on living simply.
