There are very few, if any, unique places to dine like the Caldwell Sale Barn Café. It has been serving cattlemen for over 100 years with home-cooked comfort foods topped off with fabulous home-made pies. (They have had peanutbutter pies to die for) The atmosphere is friendly and homey. It is definitely a masculine atmosphere with some very particular guys knowing exactly what they like and they like that place a lot. I took a foreign exchange student from Colombia, South America, there to experience true Americana. He sat in the barn and watched the cattle being auctioned and then had a great meal with, in his own words, "the cutest waitresses ever." He had been in most of the big cities of the USA, but this was something he wrote home about. I first started eating there when it was located in the city limits of Caldwell and I was about 5 years old. I am 69 now and do not get there as often as I would like anymore, but have never been disappointed when I do.
