This inspection was conducted at the Cinco de Mayo outdoor event in downtown Martinsville. Owner went to Spencer Penn Centre prior to coming to event and is used as their commissary. Owner purchased a frozen holding pack for maintaining cold foods at proper temperatures. Owner informed me he would mainly have his push cart at the Bassett Community Market for the season. A visit was made to the above establishment today to clarify the necessity in using an approved food service facility for the storage preparation and proper cleaning of equipment for the push cart they currently operate. The owner has agreed to use a licensed facility to conduct all operations for the push cart in accordance with the current laws and regulations. This inspection was conducted as a follow-up to assure the foods are being prepared and equipment cleaned in an permitted/licensed food facility. Discussed with owner and informed the foods are not being prepared in a unapproved facility. A follow-up inspection will be conducted by July 31, 2014 since the market is only open Thursdays to assure the above violation has been corrected..

This is a mobile vendor cart. with a hand wash station and portable means of cleaning and sanitizing equipment as needed. Owner observed washing hands, had hand sanitizer and handling foods with food grade paper and tongs (not touching foods), Foods are disposed of at end of day. Operations normally occur for 4-6 hours / day in different locations in the Martinsville area throughout the spring/summer months. At this time Mon- Wed the unit is on Blackberry Road and on Thursday is located at the Farmers Market/Historical Center in Bassett. There is an overhead structure to protect the foods from any possible contamination. Foods are prepared on site. Owner also has scanner capabilities for taking credit cards.
