Inspection conducted and discussed with owner/operator. A review of the food service menu was conducted with the owner/operator. There have been no changes in offered menu items. The back small food prep area was under construction and no food prep was being done in that area during the inspection. Owner/operator stated that it is projected to be completed in Spring 2014, with the installation of the new vent hood system.

A complaint inspection was conducted today at the Cape Charles Coffee House regarding the septic system. I spoke with owner/operator. I discussed the complaint and we conducted an inspection together. All handwashing lavatories, the 3-Vat sink and the mechanical warewash machine were functioning properly at time of inspection. Also both restrooms were properly functioning, i.e. toilets flushed. Owner/operator stated that the establishment had not had any issues since Feb. 8, 2013. On that date the Town brought in the “jet” and flushed the whole system. Since then no issues with the septic system have occurred. Owner/operator also stated that there were never any issues with the kitchen’s handwashing lavatories, 3-Vat sink or the mechanical warewash machine. Inspection discussed with person in charge. There was a review of the menu with the operator. All items that are not allowed to be cooked by Building Official has been blocked out with white labels. No food product was found in food establishment that is not on menu.
