The following was discussed with the operator: (1) Should the number of children in the day care remain at 12 or less throughout the year, routine health inspections may likely not be done
  • Sanitizing Solutions, Testing Devices
    Observation: There is no properly working test kit provided in the facility for monitoring the concentration of the chemical sanitizing solutions.
    Correction: Obtain a test kit for measuring the strength/concentration of the sanitizing solutions and maintain them at a safe and effective level.
  • Warewashing Equipment, Cleaning Frequency
    Observation: The 3-compartment sink and drainboard were soiled and needed cleaning.
    Correction: Clean the 3-compartment sink and drainboard.
  • Equipment, Utensils, Linens, and Single-Service and Single-Use Articles
    Observation: Clean utensils on the drainboard were not protected from contamination due to splash when hands are being washed at the hand sink located next to the drainboard.
    Correction: Provide a splashguard at the hand sink to protect the clean utensils from splash when hands are being washed.
  • Toilet Room Receptacle Covered
    Observation: There is no covered refuse container for the disposal of feminine napkins in the ladies washrooms.
    Correction: Install a covered refuse container for the disposal of feminine napkins in the ladies washroom.
  • Toilet Rooms - Enclosed
    Observation: The washroom doors were without a self-closing device.
    Correction: Provide a self-closer for the two washroom doors. Completely enclosed toilet facilities minimize the potential for the spread of disease by the movement of flies and other insects between the toilet facility and food preparation areas.
  • Physical Facilities - Cleaning Frequency and Restrictions
    Observation: There was a build-up of mold growth inside one of the utensil storage cupboards that required cleaning..
    Correction: Correct the mold growth found inside the utensil storage cupboard.
