What was the original intent, plan and purpose of William A. Knotts Elementary School. How did it get it's name, who were the architect, bulders, what is the size of the student body? when did Knotts Ele open?
I went to school at Knotts from 1955-1961. Ms. Bruce was the principal there for may years including when my two older brothers attended the school eight and nine years before me.
Ms. Bruce passed away in a nursing home in 1973 or 1974.
I believe that the school was built about 1937. It was originally named Shiloh after the Battle of Shiloh in Tennessee in 1862. It was later named William A. Knotts after a member of the board of education as were many schools in that time period.
