Back in September 2009, when I first went to Charles Best school in grade 9. I thought this school will be great for me and it's not that far from my old place. Unfortunately, it didn't work out for me because this school board has a weird rules that if any students with disabiity has to be in skill class. I do have mild autism but if I have severe autism then my life will be different. I wasn't thrilled to be in skill class because the S.E.A teachers were treating me like a little child from daycare and one of them were following me like a puppy dog/security guard. During lunch time, me and other students from skill class we were not allowed to hang out and meet students from normal classrooms. We have to stay in skill class to do games activity until lunch break is over. I find out very ridiculous because how I'm going to meet people and make new friends. I know I don't deserve to be treated different because of my mild autism. My mom send letters to the S.E.A teachers that we don't agree of their ideas and rules in skill class. Unfortunately, they don't care and respect how I felt about this. Mrs. Cathy Dudley was saying very strange to me, she said "Because there's grade 11 and 12 boys will flirt with me if I wear a tank top, that's why were not allowed to hang out and we have to stay in skill class during lunch break." I find out very ridiculous they way she say that to me. I was not wearing a tank top at all. Their suppose to teach me in class not mothering me. I wish they have put me in normal class instead of skill class that this skill class program wasn't suitable for me. I end up move to catholic secondary school and I felt more freedom and the teacher's especially S.E.A teachers were treating me nice appropriate. They treat students with challenges like normal people and they don't have skill classroom, they only have support block class for any student that can work on their school projects. I really hope that the Charle's Best Secondary school and especially other public school they should change the public school board rules.
