I left the business one star because their ice cream really is some of the best in the area, however if I could leave a 0 star rating on their customer service, I certainly would.
My family and I went to the Purple Cow for ice cream after dinner tonight as a treat for my daughter. She and I both ordered our ice cream in dishes but received them both in cones. Mine came out first and when I told the elderly lady working the window that I had ordered a dish, she asked me if it was okay and proceeded to give me a huge attitude when I said no. She then scraped my ice cream off the cone, slapped it in a dish, and went to make my daughter's ice cream. She returned with yet another cone and got huffy when I told her once again that the order was supposed to be a dish. When she returned the second time, she brought a black raspberry instead of vanilla and continued her attitude problem when it needed to be exchanged.
Had I been there myself, I would have left the ice cream and asked for my money back, but my mother wanted to stay so that my daughter could eat her ice cream when they finally got it right. No matter, the night was effectively ruined; what was supposed to be a fun family treat ended with my daughter nearly in tears because she doesn't like the flavor the rude old woman tried to give her.
I have been coming to the Purple Cow for the past 15 years but after tonight, I can assure you I will not be returning. I will also make my friends and family aware of the terrible customer service; if we want to pay nearly $2 for a small ice cream, we can go to Rita's where the staff is always friendly.
Tip to the owners: You can have the best ice cream around, but when your employees treat your customers like dirt, you won't keep them coming back.
