A trip to the Highlands—and a ride on the carousel—was a beloved tradition for school picnics and family outings for generations of St. Louis children. The carousel consists of 61 horses and two wooden chariots, and is one of only five 1920s Park-type-four-bank Dentzel carousels still in operation. Closed Monday.
