Analogous problems were solved in Northern Ireland and South Africa and Yugoslavia. If anyone wanted to solve it, it would be, but right now the dispute still has political value, particularly to the arms industry.

I wouldn’t say that Yugoslavia has been solved considering that Serbia doesn’t recognise Kosovo, and the area is still very much a powder keg waiting to be lit. And South Africa on paper has been solved, but racial tensions still exist to this day.
With these countries being on the news for the past few weeks, who’s side are you taking?
You can support the people but condemn the politics. Israel has a democratic political system (OK really a constitutional republic for those that want to get picky on semantics). They have a bilateral relationship with the US in that we are partners in culture, economics, trade, and have been our strategic partner in the Middle East both before and after the cold war. Overall the relationship has benefited the US.
I understand Israel strategy in these matters - with the small size of their country, they have always worked on the premise that they can't afford to lose one war, not one, with an enemy that is dedicated to killing every man, woman, and child in their country. They needs these buffers - Gaza, Golan Heights, West Bank.
The politics of Palestine is an issue. Gaza ruled by Hamas, a terrorist organization dedicated to the destruction of the State of Israel, the West Bank by the PLO, and then you got Hezbollah and Iran supporting both with weapons, training, and personnel, all of which are happy to kill any westerners as well. There is really no working with Palestine until these terrorist organizations - Hezbollah, Hamas, and Iran - are removed from influencing Palestine. In the mean time, it's the people of Palestine that suffer, trained from an early age to hate and dependent on sustenance aid from terrorist organizations, living with unemployment and lack of opportunity. In effect, a society bred and raised to kill Jews.
Don't really give two ****s about the controversy but Israel is pretty cool. Seems like a highly advanced, LGBT-friendly, and very forward-thinking society.
I've heard some bad things about general living in Israel though, mainly the poor infrastructure, rude people, and ridiculously high cost of living, but I've never really been so can't really judge how true they are.
Palestine because they dont try to leach off of USA or rest of 1st world in any way they can, like Israel does.

Palestine pretty much only survives by aid, totally dependent on it. This comes from various organizations and countries, even the US. In fact they get more aid per capita from the US than Israel receives - in 2017, U.S. aid to Israel was $429 per capita, compared with $451 per capita for the Palestinians. That was cut back during the Trump administration, but appears to have been resumed under the Biden administration. Palestine is second only to Syria in the amount of international humanitarian aid they get (at least as of 2013).
Lots of aid to Palestine comes from unregistered sources, so those aren't recorded. Many in terms of arms and military training from Iran, Russia, and international terrorist organizations that in turn receive funds from American private sources giving aid to "Arab Causes", etc.
Sadly, the Palestinian people don't seem to prosper much from this aid, where poverty and unemployment are still common.
This should happen:
1. All of Jerusalem goes to Israel.
2. The rest of the West Bank becomes the country Palestine.
3. The Gaza Strip and most of the Sinai Peninsula become the country of Palestine.
4. Egypt maintains control of all of the Sinai Peninsula that is along the Suez Canal.
This should happen:
1. Jerusalem becomes a sovereign religious city-state (like Vatican) governed by 3 religions.
2. The West Bank and Gaza Strip become the country of Palestine.
3. The rest of the present country of Israel remains the country of Israel.
4. Isn't Sinai already exclusively a part of Egypt? There are still Jewish settlements there, but aren't those Jewish folks residents of Egypt? And what would Sinai (in Egypt) have to do with Palestinians?
Most sensible solution of two state has been rejected time and again by the Palestinians. I used to think Israel was a little crazy, but then it became clear that the root cause of the conflict is Arab/Muslim hatred of Jews. Doesn't matter what Israel does, or even if it stopped existing, the Arabs and Muslims would probably start trying to kill Jews in other countries, just like they attacked them in the US after the last flare up.
